Hallelujah Bey+//

Hallelujah Bey+// proved himself to be one of the top English Pleasure stallions. With limited appearances, he gained an outstanding show record, including two National Top Tens, one Scottsdale Top Ten, and ten Regional wins in open English Pleasure. Across the country, trainers, breeders, and fans are impressed not only with his talent and beauty, but with his superior, dynamic attitude both in and out of the show ring.

Bred by Varian Arabians, Hallelujah Bey+// has an incomparable pedigree, one that combines the Arabian breed’s most noted Park and English Pleasure bloodlines. With eleven National winners or National winning producers in the first three generations of his pedigree, his show ring victories and breeding success stories were very predictable.

Balagan

Balagan was a once-in-a-lifetime horse, gifted with talent rarely equaled by purebred Arabians. His quiet, kind, and intelligent disposition was a joy to be around, and to ride him was a memory not ever to be forgotten. His power literally shook the ground underneath him with high trotting motion and hocks that nearly hit his underside. He always had more to give if the rider asked for it – correctly. His intellect set him apart and continues to be a trait seen in all offspring. He and all his get prefer to be asked, instead of being told. They enjoy the bond between horse and man earned from mutual respect and trust.

Balagan was a multi-National performance champion from the incredible legacy of Negatraz and MHR Port Macja. Though minimally used as a sire, Balagan has several get with championships in English Pleasure, Country Pleasure, Pleasure Driving, Halter, and Dressage.

*Gitara PASB

We have more *Gitara PASB blood in our barn than any other mare. Her mark is immediately evident, generations from the source. Elegant, ever youthful, extreme, always an aristocrat, her grand get exhibit all of these characteristics and have nicked well with American lines to produce individuals who are competitive and desirable in today’s market. Her Afire Bey V son, Maplewood bred and born, Gitar MF, earned a National Reserve Championship and continues to sire get winning at the highest levels of competition. The young mare Gala MF, her full brother Graff MF (both by Erykk MF), and the colt Garcon Noir (by IXL Noble Express), are all key elements in our program.

*Era

*Era was an extraordinary mare that knew no boundaries. In a petite frame, she possessed enormous talent and power. Greg Gallun remembers showing her in hand at Scottsdale and said if he hadn’t turned her at the end of the arena, she would have kept going! The heart she had enabled her to win Scottsdale Park when nine months in foal! Prolific and gifted, she gave us Erykk MF, ensuring liquid and extreme motion for subsequent Maplewood generations.

Ginuine

Considered by Janow Podlaski State Stud Director Andrzej Krzysztalowicz to be the best of Comet’s sons, *Dar was credited for producing size, motion, and extreme elegance. The Patterson’s bred *Dar to Marushka to capitalize on the shared strength of their pedigrees, which included exceptional forehand construction, exaggerated length of neck – fine and slender in construction – tying perfectly into a well laid back and powerful shoulder. The resulting son, Medalion, is a testament to the genetic strength of his granddam *Mortissa’s sire Trypolis and *Dar’s maternal grandsire Amurath Sahib.

Medalion was leased by Tex Kam late in his life to be bred to the magnificent *Gitara whom he earlier purchased from Maplewood Farms. *Gitara adds to the mating her unmistakable presence, dramatic movements and the conformational attributes that resulted in her ability to compete and win as a halter mare at an advanced age. *Gitara can also be credited for producing Gitar MF, who was bred by Maplewood and went on to be named Canadian National Reserve Champion Stallion.

Maplewood leased Ginuine for three breeding seasons from Tex Kam specifically for the purpose of breeding her to Erykk MF. From this cross, we produced three individuals with pedigrees drawing from the genetic strength of two of Comet’s most important sons: *Dar and Carycyn. These boys were noted for producing numerous Park Champions including Meridian, and *Era, respectively.

MW Bint Fayzarda

Retired for years, this most classic mare, Bint Fayzarda, embodies the essence of performance and quality. Impeccably bred, she combines the best of her Polish and Crabbet heritage. She is the dam of three champions, including our most successful show horse Razzberry+/, a five-time National Champion (by unanimous decision on four occasions!). Razzberry’s show highlights include Youth National Champion English Pleasure JOTR/JTR 14-17, Youth National Champion Pleasure Driving, Canadian National Champion English Pleasure JOTR/JTR 14-17, Pacific Slope Champion English Pleasure AOTR, and multiple Regional Championships in English Pleasure, Pleasure Driving and Park.

Bint Fayzarda’s other champion produce are: Barbray – Regional Top Five Country English Pleasure AOTR, Regional Top Five English Pleasure Junior Horse, and Florida State Champion Country English Pleasure; and Eurastaar – Regional Top Five Yearling Sweepstakes Colt, Regional Top Five Hunter Pleasure AOTR as well as a winner in both Western and English Pleasure.

Having long passed her 30th birthday, we hope she will graze our pastures for years to come.

Revlon MF

Retired from production after giving us our replacement mare Rhegan MF, Maplewood decided to sell this rare daughter of *El Paso when we couldn’t get her in foal again. Revlon MF is proudly owned, loved, ridden, and enjoyed by Rhoda and Catrina Bazen.

Fadjurz Elite

Fadjurz Elite conjurs up images of the past, of her grandsire Fadjur, of a heritage created by the Tones over 50 years ago, and of a future of champions as relevant as that of their ancestors. Fadjurz Elite exhibits desert dryness, thin black vascular skin, a sizzling hot personality, and over-the-top presence. Her flamboyance at the trot leaves you with the impression the ground is on fire – her feet are always off the ground. She is all of the superlatives that made Fadjur famous and etched in our memories the images of mares like Sparkling Burgandy and Jurneeka – mares that redefined our image of the Arabian horse in America.

We are thrilled that, in collaboration with Jack Tone Ranch, we were able to infuse this blood to our strong Polish herd to create our ideal Arabian horse. Her daughter Elite in Love will be a key member of our mare band.

Nina Ricci MF

Nina Ricci’s extreme refinement and dramatic movements reflect the type of foal we want to produce at Maplewood, one of extreme beauty and capable of achieving performance honors at the highest levels. This mare is an ideal cross for producing English Pleasure type. She combines the best of her sire and dam with her captivating elegance, the mystic of dark features, and an impeccable pedigree of champions. She is the last daughter of BOH Romance, Maplewood’s premier broodmare for many years, considered by many to be the most beautiful daughter of Negatraz. An aristocrat dam of champions, her best produce includes US Top Ten Revelry and Regional Top Five Rockette MF.

Nina Ricci’s sire, Hallelujah Bey+//, was a multi-National performance champion in English Pleasure, Country Pleasure, Pleasure Driving and Native Costume.

Raishea

Raishea delivered a terrific 2014 colt by  *Maddox Van Ryad . We named him Matrix MF, and he represents four generations of Maplewood breeding.

Raishea is special – the only granddaughter of BOH Romance, through BOH’s daughter Nina Ricci MF. Raishea is our most important link to this dam line. Named after her great-grand dam Gaishea, both a U.S. and Canadian National Champion Mare, this filly brings the highly coveted Gainey Dynasty into our mix. Paternal grandsire Gai Monarch’s talent under saddle matched that of his halter fame. Maternal grandsire Hallelujah Bey //+ contributes the known qualities of the Huck lines, giving us our third generation of calm, level headed, useful and talented horses walking the aisles of our barn. Sire Noble Rhyton contributes incredibly dry, thin and vascular skin, large eyes and tightly placed ears, as well as an exquisite front end with a long and perfectly arched neck. Rhyton’s dam *Cesarzowa, of the famous Milordka female family– famous for her chisled head, fertility, and ability to produce well with every sire presented to her – offers hope that we have a new treasure in her granddaughter.

Raishea is an exciting addition to our broodmare band; she’s broke to ride and serviceable for pleasure as well!

Rhegan MF

Rhegan MF is third generation Maplewood. Descending from our farm’s most prolific dam, BOH Romance, through her *El Paso daughter Revlon MF, Rhegan is the result of line breeding back to Balagan (Negatraz x MHR Port Macja). Rhegan is extremely smooth, powerful, athletic, and balanced. She is already displaying excellent brood mare qualities. Bred twice to *Garrison PASB (*Wojslaw x *Gitara), Rhegan has produced predictably correct and attractive individuals.

MFA Periwinkle

Periwinkle delivered a 2014 filly by Erykk MF . We named her Chekhova MF, a third generation filly to keep for our breeding and performance program. Periwinkle was bred back for a full sibling in 2015, Beckman MF and is now expecting a third foal from this exciting cross for 2017!

With the recent acquisition of one of the world’s last producing Fame VF daughters, Maplewood hopes to pair beauty with athleticism yet again. Certainly one of the most look-a-like Fame daughters, walking this mare in hand is like leading a queen. Her pedigree matches her phenotype perfectly, and, not coincidently, her maternal grand dam, Hi-Fashion Camaar, is identical to our mare Benraz Magnifique, both mares are out of full sisters. We highly value Benraz ++// crossed on the damline of Hi-Fashion Camaar blood as an important outcross for our program. Periwinkle brings size as well as refinement and type to our herd.

MFA Periwinkle is one of the all-time greatest Fame daughters! She has two sisters with National Championship honors, MFA Lilac Tyme and MFA Ultra Violet. MFA Periwinkle is of the same national quality as these full sisters.” – Chris Petford

Erykk MF

In the short time Erykk MF was shown, he qualified for US Nationals in English Pleasure, Park, Informal Combination and Pleasure Driving. Erykk was schooled by Gene LaCroix, the only person to have trained and ridden the entire family: Balagan, *Era, and Erykk have all been in his barn! Gene noted that, “Erykk is an unconventional horse as compared to today’s breeding and is without a doubt a very naturally high trotting Park horse.”

Erykk MF with Guy Benefield

Erykk MF with Guy Benefield

Bred for motion, both Erykk’s sire and dam were park horse “freaks”. Now that both Balagan and *Era are gone, Erykk represents our last link to this incredible talent pool. Balagan was a multi-National performance champion from the incredible legacy of Negatraz and MHR Port Macja. Though minimally used as a sire, Balagan has several champions to his credit in English Pleasure, Country Pleasure, Pleasure Driving, Halter and Dressage. *Era was a Regional Park Champion, sired by Park horse champion *Caracyn and out of the legendary Eskapada, Polish National Reserve Champion Mare and foundress of an incredible worldwide dynasty of champions. An aristocrat dam, *Era is the dam of Pacific Slope Reserve Champion English Pleasure Emage OF, English Pleasure winner *Erebus, and multi-English Pleasure champion Ex Parte MF, full brother to Erykk.

Erykk is also siring top performance Half-Arabians. The 2009 mare Ho Chi Mama and 2010 gelding Erykk The Red (see video below) are both with Vicki Humphrey and available to performance homes, with Ho Chi Mama listed for the Addis Thanksgiving auction.

“I usually don’t comment on individual horses in our auctions. When I saw the video [of Ho Chi Mama], I called the owner. This is a very good horse. She is game, young, great off of her hocks, square on all 4 corners, sharp eared, post either diagonal, and most of all never been shown and will be a fresh face. Still another year as Junior horse. If I still were showing horses myself I would own this mare.” – Bill Addis

Noble Rhyton

Noble Rhyton gave us the opportunity to infuse a touch of Gai Monarch, a powerful halter and performance champion, into the Maplewood program. Rhyton’s dam is from the famous Milordka female family. Fortunately, we got the filly Raishea, a treasure for our broodmare band.

*Maddox Van Ryad

Maddox Van Ryad 3/4 angle full body Jeff LittleMaddox Van Ryad’s journey to Maplewood has been an international and hard-earned travelogue. From the moment we saw him at Gemini Acres 2012 private presentation, he had captured our hearts. His confidence, presence, and quality make him unique. Everything about him is just a bit apart from the norm. Perhaps he is a watershed horse whose influence can move the dial up a notch into the future.

He’s tall; he STANDS tall. He looks down on his handlers with quiet grace; thoughts of a King’s mount cross your mind. He would be the one a royal rider might select from the herd. The perspective from his withers forward is unmatched – a most beautiful line of arched neck leading to chiseled tipped ears. His intriguing eyes penetrate yours. Legs – long and correct – support a worthy, smooth, and finely cut body. The cumulative form to function is perfection.

Maddow Van Ryad wins Liberty class at 2014 Scottsdale Arabian National Breeder Finals.

After earning US and Canadian National Reserve Championships, a Brazilian National Championship, a Perfect Score in Scottsdale Liberty and SEVEN Regional Championships. After a great lease period, we purchased Maddox in 2014. We are thrilled to have him as a permanent member of our stallion band. He will be bred to almost half of our small mare herd with hopes of imparting his traits as a beautiful athlete, gifted with a most interesting pedigree, into our program.

Three times Morafic through *El Shaklan and Shaikh Al Badi with an line to El Magato, Maddox comes by his motion honestly and from sources Maplewood has yet to tap; *Ali Jamaal offers classic Arabian hints to his appearance and his maternal grandsire AAF Kaset brings a touch of Polish as a catalyst.

Maddox is already making a mark here at Maplewood. His 2014 daughter Madison MF (x Benraz Magnifique) was double champion at Region IV, winning both Champion Arabian Yearling Filly (unanimous) and Champion Arabian Yearling Filly Breeders Sweepstakes.

Riviera MF

Foaled 2014 Colt by  *Maddox Van Ryad.

Riviera MF represents Maplewood’s successful infusion of more Comet blood into our breeding program and efforts to create a replacement for our beloved foundation broodmare *Era. She produced well for us, including the exceptional trotting machine Erykk MF, and we look for Riviera MF to carry on the contributions of her grand dam.

Riviera’s dam Cerrah was leased by Maplewood based on her strong resemblance to *Era, and based on that fact that, like Erykk, Cerrah’s dam is a *Carycyn daughter. Cerrah’s pedigree includes some of the most famous Polish trotting stallions in the breed, Gdansk and *Wiraz, with intense linebreeding to *Bask, Comet, Trypolis, and Wielki Szlem. Additionally, Cerrah traces in tail female to the fantastic US National Reserve Champion Futurity Mare Four Winds Kitkat, the foundress of a line of an incomparable show horses that includes the more recent US National Champion Mare Maggdalina.

Triple Comet, triple Bask with four lines to Wielki Szlem – the concentration of Polish athletes in this filly’s pedigree is hard to find.

BOH Romance

A most elegant mare, BOH Romance was ahead of her time in the 80s-90s. She was a Maplewood treasure beyond description. One of the aristocratic Negatraz daughters, she was tall, airy, and powerful, with the front end desired in today’s market. Dam of US National TT Arabian Futurity colt Revelry (who went on to sire 133 progeny), she blessed us with four daughters. Her line is of utmost importance at Maplewood, where she is represented through Nina Ricci MF and Raishea.

*Sagana

We purchased the Swedish legend *Sagana from Freeman Arabians, who set a record price importing her. The story of this mare is perhaps the most heartbreaking for Maplewood’s history, as we lost her Negatraz daughter in foal to Erykk MF with a filly. She would most certainly have been a cornerstone for athletic beauty had she survived. *Sagana was sold in a period of downsizing for Maplewood in the 90s to Peach Creek Farm. A ‘stallion-like’ forceful mare, quite unique in her power and presence, we have none of her blood left, most unfortunately.

Benraz Magnifique

Her 2014 Filly by *Maddox Van Ryad, Madison MF, was double champion at Region IV, winning both Champion Arabian Yearling Filly (unanimous) and Champion Arabian Yearling Filly Breeders Sweepstakes.

A vision in white, Benraz Magnifique is a supreme example of the type and ethereal elegance that made the Arabian horse famous. Her unmistakably Arabian beauty is characterized by a wispy forelock draping her large luminous eyes, desert-dry jet black skin, perfectly sculpted ears and an exotically shaped head that tapers to a small, finely designed muzzle. She has quality in abundance, from her stellar structure and over-the-top drama to her long and elegantly shaped neck and always flagged tail carriage. It is her commanding presence that brings all of these qualities into focus as she meets your eyes.

Quality is no accident, and in the case of Magnifique it is the result of generations of carefully planned breeding by Cory Soltau DVM of Blackhawk Valley Arabians. Known for their cultivation of some of the breed’s finest bloodlines, including their foundation mare TW Forteyna, leading dam of Champions in the United States, and her National Champion daughters by Bey Shah, Shahteyna and Bey Teyna, the Soltaus’ contribution to the Arabian breed is undeniable.

There is no shortage of superlatives to describe this extraordinary mare. Remembering Echo Magnifficoo, we believe him to be one of the most exceptional individuals we have ever seen in the flesh. Watching his desirable traits being passed on for generations impacted the desire to own a daughter. It is his daughters who have produced National Champions Marwan Al Magnifficoo, Aria Impresario, Odyssey SC, and Art Dekko TT, to name a few.

Benraz Magnifique, Benraz Jacqueline, and Hi-Fashion CamaarBenraz Magnifique’s dam is a full sister to Benraz Fantaasy and Benraz Fancy, both multi-champion producing mares. The exquisite beauty and exceptional prepotency of this glorious female family, can be seen in the three generations pictured here, Benraz Magnifique (left), her dam Benraz Jacqueline (center), and granddam Hi-Fashion Camaar (right).

We anticipate that Magnifique will be a catalyst for producing future champions for Maplewood Farm. Once again, we are looking for that holy grail – the beautiful athlete.

ES Gianalli

ES Gianalli represents fourth generation of Maplewood breeding. This mare’s history goes back to Greg Fratt, formerly with Patterson Arabians, who helped us find and purchase *Galia (Chazar x Gildia) and her daughter Gambria (by Negatraz) in the mid-80’s. They were our first Polish Arabian mares and possessed incredible beauty.

We bred *Galia back to Negatraz producing Gambria’s full brother, *Gotcha, who was later exported to Sweden. Gambria produced only one filly for us, Giaa by *Pepi/Celebes. This breeding was encouraged by Tomasz Skotniki from Magness Arabians with the intent to produce an athletic beauty. Giaa was then line bred to Balagan (Negatraz x MHR Port Macja) for enhanced motion. The cross was a success! From the lovely bay ES Gianalli, we have retained her talented and Regional winning Halter colt G for our show string. Due to a foaling accident, she can no longer carry foals. She has been sold to carry on as a beloved companion riding horse.
